A Garfield Heights Craftsman with a sound 1916 floor plan that just needed the kitchen brought up to a 2025 cooking life. No walls moved — every gain came from layout, light, and material.

Challenges

  • Owners wanted no structural changes
  • Original 8 ft ceilings — uppers had to feel light
  • Existing breakfast nook had to stay

Solutions

  • Walnut uppers floated 4" off the wall, integral LED below
  • Painted lowers in deep clay to ground the room
  • Custom banquette in the existing nook, same walnut
