Who writes the journal?
Our principal architect, the permit runner, and the project managers running active builds. Every post is reviewed by a licensed CSLB contractor before publication — see the people behind the work on the studio pages.
Are the numbers in the journal still current?
California construction costs and permit timelines shift quarterly. Each post shows its publish date — cross-check against the 2026 California cost report and the permit directory. Anything older than 6 months without a review note should be treated as a directional benchmark, not a quote.
Can I cite a journal post in a permit appeal or HOA letter?
Yes — every post is public, attributed to Alpha Dream Construction, and grounded in California law plus our own project data. We're cited a few times a year in HPOZ hearings and zoning appeals. Pair citations with the relevant field guides.
Will reading these help if I'm not in LA or the Bay Area?
